FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to methods of laser ablation/laser scribing of peripheral edges of a coating (for example, a low-emission coating, a mirror or other coating) on a glass or other substrate of a layered structure. Method of making a heat-insulating window glass unit includes providing an intermediate article comprising a first and a second spaced apart glass substrates, which are spaced from each other by means of at least a separator along the peripheral edge. Gap is formed between the first and second glass substrates. On the first glass substrate there is a multilayer coating containing at least one metal-containing layer subject to corrosion. Multilayer coating comprises a lower dielectric layer directly on the first glass substrate, and the metal-containing layer is provided on top of at least the lower dielectric layer on the first glass substrate. Laser scribing of the line in the multilayer coating is carried out by exposing the intermediate product to a laser radiation source during manufacture of heat-insulating window glass unit. Line has width of 500–800 mcm and creates at least a partial barrier for the transfer of electrons between the first and second parts of said at least one metal-containing layer, available on opposite sides of the line, to at least slow down corrosion of said at least one metal-containing layer in the first part, wherein the first part is closer to the second part to the center of said at least one metal-containing layer. Performing laser scribing to dissolve a portion of the coating, including said at least one metal-containing layer, but excluding the lower dielectric layer, so that after said laser scribing, a line is provided in the metal-containing layer, but not through the lower dielectric layer of the multilayer coating. This document also covers related articles, methods and kits related to the above.
EFFECT: high corrosion resistance of the coating.
