FIELD: computer technology.

SUBSTANCE: identifier of a user’s wireless device is received, and, based on it, a set of features of local communication of a local communication module of the wireless device is determined. These features are entered into a machine learning algorithm (hereinafter – MLA) trained using a set of heuristic rules applied to training sets of features of local communication of training wireless devices. The MLA algorithm, based on the set of features of local communication of the local communication module of the wireless device, issues an indication of the fact of the user visiting a POI point.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the fact of the user visiting a point of interest.
