FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular, to metallurgy of precious metals. The method for processing the mother solution of platinum and palladium refining includes evaporation of the solution and separation of the salt precipitate, wherein the solution is acidified to an HCl content of at least 30 g/dm³, treated with a chlorine-containing oxidiser until the redox potential of the solution is increased to values of at least 950 mV at a temperature of 30 to 40°C with precipitation of salts of ammonium tetrachloroplatinate (NH₄)₂[PtCl₆] and ammonium tetrachloropalladate (NH₄)₂[PdCl₆], the resulting precipitate is filtered out, after filtration, the solution is additionally de-purified, then treated with alkali, re-evaporated resulting in a solution of ammonia, crystalline sodium chloride, and a mixture of dry salts. Sodium chlorate, sodium hypochlorite, chlorine gas are used as a chlorine-containing oxidiser. Re-evaporation is executed until the sodium sulphate content in the solution is no greater than 6%.

EFFECT: invention reduces the duration of the process cycle of production of platinum and palladium and increases the environmental efficiency of production due to the regeneration of reagents.
