FIELD: chemical and metallurgical production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical and metallurgical production, in particular to the production of platinum group metals (PGM) and their compounds. The method for obtaining platinum from a solution of chloroplatinic acid containing impurities of other noble metals includes heat treatment of a solution of chloroplatinic acid with the addition of hydrocarbon derivatives as a reducing agent by evaporation when the temperature rises to 140-160°C, separating the resulting precipitate of impurities from a solution of chloroplatinic acid, precipitation from the solution chloroammonium salt of platinum, separation of the salt from the mother liquor and its subsequent calcination, while the resulting one stripped off pulp is filtered twice from the precipitate of impurities, previously diluted with water.
EFFECT: decrease in the impurity content of iridium, as well as other PGMs in platinum and in a decrease in the loss of platinum with solutions formed during the washing of ammonium chloroplatinate.
