SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine. Rest electrocardiogram is recorded in a prone position. Length of recording is 5 minutes. Duration of cardiointervals is calculated. Rhythmogram is constructed. Degree of cardiac activity self-regulation (SANSC) and a self-organization of humoral control (SHC) are determined using the RR Viewer program. State of the vegetative nervous system is assessed. If the SANSC value is more than 60, the high adaptation level is expressed. If the SANSC value is 60 or less, but more than 40, the average adaptation level is indicated. If the SANSC value is 40 or less, but more than 20, a low level of adaptation. If the SANSC value is 20 or less, and the SHC value is 40 or more, the state of a decompensated pathological process associated with adaptation failure is stated.

EFFECT: method increases quality, reliability of assessing the state of the autonomic nervous system of a person by heart rate by establishing standard values of statistical criteria, adequately reflecting the state of functional capabilities of the human body, as well as the normative value of the state of a sharp decrease in functional capabilities of the body in connection with failure of adaptation.
