FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to two embodiments of a method of producing polymers based on compounds of the norbornene series. According to one embodiment, a method of producing an additive polymer of a norbornene-based compound by mixing a norbornene-based compound with an organic solvent, adding a pre-catalyst containing a palladium compound Pd(0) or Pd(2+), and an organic cocatalyst, carrying out an additive polymerisation reaction and extracting the obtained polymer is characterized by that said monomer used is norbornene, cocatalyst is n-nitroiodobenzene or arendiazonium salt in molar ratio norbornene / palladium in range of 100/1–1000/1.

EFFECT: use of available organic compounds for activation of the pre-catalyst and sharp reduction in consumption of the cocatalyst, which enables to obtain additive polymers of norbornene and its derivatives with high molecular weight (degree of polymerisation).
