FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemistry of chlorinated hydrocarbon derivatives, specifically to a novel method of producing higher fatty chlorinated acids, which are used in industry, in particular, they are multifunctional additives when processing polymers. Technical result is achieved in the method of producing higher fatty chlorinated acids of general formula R(CHCl)nCOOH, where R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing 9–22 carbon atoms, n = 1–4, by oxidation of chlorinated paraffin wax with atmospheric oxygen in the presence of a cobalt hydroxystearate catalyst at temperature of 105–110 °C and atmospheric pressure, wherein the catalyst used is additionally N-hydroxyphthalimide with molar ratio of cobalt hydroxystearate:N-hydroxyphthalimide equal to 1:5.9, and the reaction is carried out for 10 hours at a weight ratio of catalyst:raw material equal to 7.9–10.6 wt. %.
EFFECT: increased rate of reaction, reduced time of the process and increased output of reaction products.
