SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a steel piston with an amorphous phosphate layer, in particular for an internal combustion engine, as well as to a method for its production. The steel piston for an internal combustion engine contains an amorphous phosphate layer with a thickness of 0.05-3 mcm, which is obtained by spraying a solution containing phosphoric acid to a piston surface, and in which antifriction coating is applied to the amorphous phosphate layer.
EFFECT: due to this layer, adhesion of antifriction coating is improved.
