FIELD: restoration and simultaneous strengthening of worn skirts of aluminum-alloy pistons of internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of building up base by process of gas-flame deposition and further microarc oxidation in alkali electrolyte; realizing building up with use of powder of predetermined alloy; then performing finishing until receiving preset size and further microarc oxidation on the whole thickness of built up layer; subsequent saturation of coating of skirt with graphite and with boron nitride mixture. EFFECT: increased useful life period of restored piston skirts due to increased thickness of coating applied by microarc oxidation, improved hardness, wear resistance, antifriction properties of coating, enhanced efficiency of method due to lowered number of operations at building up coating. 2 tbl
