The cylinder during papermaking scoops paper pulp in the form of an aqueous suspension (14) of fibers from the vat (16) and contains a production mesh shell (30) with a circumferential direction (U) and a transverse direction perpendicular to it (Q), which along the circumferential direction (U) equipped with a plurality of convex window-forming elements (34), on which, during papermaking, a protective diving thread (22) is located to locally suppress the layering of fibers from their aqueous suspension (14) to form windows. In this case, according to the invention, the window-forming elements (34) are arranged with a periodic displacement (36) along the circumferential direction in the transverse direction (Q), while the perimeter RU of the grid cylinder is equal to an integer multiple of the displacement period P.
