FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a drying agent composition for the use in a coating composition based on self-oxidizable alkyd. The drying agent composition contains: (a) at least one metal complex containing at least one metal salt and at least one nitrogen-donor ligand, and (b) at least one non-ion emulsifier. At least one metal salt contains at least one metal cation, which is manganese (Mn) and at least one anion. Nitrogen-donor ligand is a compound of the formula

The present invention also relates to a composition based on self-oxidizable alkyd containing the specified drying agent composition, to the use of the specified coating composition based on self-oxidizable alkyd, as well as to substrate coated with the specified coating composition based on self-oxidizable alkyd.

EFFECT: obtained drying agent composition is free of cobalt and, when using in coating compositions based on self-oxidizable alkyd, provides for accelerated drying of the specified composition, and also does not have a significant effect or has only a very limited effect on yellowing or color changing of obtained coating, and also improves hardness of obtained coating without affecting other properties of coating compositions based on self-oxidizable alkyd such as surface film formation or corrosion resistance.
