FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of predicting the shelf life of non-ferrous metals (copper, nickel, aluminum, lead, tin, zinc, cobalt) in closed rooms. A method provides for short-term (at least 1 year with monthly registration) accelerated laboratory corrosion tests of metal samples in various temperature and humidity conditions, including conditions close to low-corrosion storage conditions in warehouses; construction of a model of non-ferrous metal corrosion using the results of corrosion tests and world data on metal corrosion; experimental determination, based on data of corrosion tests and metallographic studies of the metal surface, of a quantitative criterion characterizing permissible corrosion losses that do not reduce the qualitative condition of the non-ferrous metal surface, prediction of the shelf life according to the constructed model.
EFFECT: method allows one to predict reasonable shelf life of non-ferrous metals in closed rooms.
