SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering, namely to valves. A method is disclosed for determining the positions of a motorized shut-off valve connected by a two-wire circuit and controlled by the polarity of the applied voltage to inputs A and B. A measuring pulse of positive amplitude and duration is applied to input A, and voltage is measured at input B, then a similar measuring pulse is applied to input B, and voltage is measured at input A. Then, a measuring pulse of positive amplitude is applied to any of the inputs, after which, after a time interval, the voltage is read and, depending on the values ​​of the measured voltages, the state of the shutoff valves is determined. A device for determining the positions of a motorized stop valve is also disclosed.

EFFECT: increasing the reliability of the shut-off devices and increasing the information content during the operation of motorized shut-off valves.
