FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: 10-hydroxyhexacyclo-[9.2.1.02,6.03,8.0,57,09,13]-tetradecane (hexacyclo- -tetradecanol-10) is synthesized by interaction of norbornadiene dimer (binor-S) with water in the presence of palladium-containing catalyst in medium containing a solvent and water at ratio = (12-17):(3-1) at 180 C for 7 h. Regeneration of water and ether provides process occurring with formation of minimal amount of sewage and waste. EFFECT: improved and simplified method of synthesis. 1 tbl, 14 ex
