FIELD: optical devices.
SUBSTANCE: optical device contains a light guide having a first pair of outer surfaces parallel to one another, and at least two sets of faces, each of which includes a plurality of partially reflecting faces parallel to one another, and is located between the first pair of outer surfaces. In each of the sets of faces, the corresponding faces are located at an oblique angle with respect to the first pair of outer surfaces and non-parallel with respect to the other of the said sets of faces. In this case, if there is a first set of lines of intersection between the planes of the first set of faces with the plane of the outer surface of the light guide and if there is a second set of lines of intersection between the planes of the second set of faces with the same plane of the outer surface of the light guide, the first and second sets of lines are non-parallel.
EFFECT: expanding the internal aperture in at least two dimensions.
