FIELD: optical system.
SUBSTANCE: optical system comprises a light guide optical element (LOE) having a pair of parallel primary outer surfaces; and a plurality of mutually parallel reflective surfaces within said LOE that are inclined at an angle with respect to said primary outer surfaces. At least one of said reflective surfaces is highly reflective for angles of incidence greater than 60 degrees relative to the normal, and partially reflective for angles of incidence less than 35 degrees relative to the normal; wherein said plurality of mutually parallel reflective surfaces within said LOE also comprises a reflective guide surface forming at least a part of the input device and having a high reflectivity for angles of incidence greater than 60 degrees relative to the normal and a reflectivity of at least about 66% for angles of incidence less than 35 degrees from the normal.
EFFECT: increase in the uniformity of the output image intensity over the entire output aperture.
