SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to automatic fire extinguishing means, namely to technical means for controlling fire extinguishing agent supply devices based on determining the spatial coordinates of the ignition area, which can be used to extinguish fires, including in open areas in the presence of wind. The method for automatic fire extinguishing includes the detection of a source of ignition in a controlled area using detection means, determining the coordinates of the ignition area, feeding and spraying a jet of extinguishing agent from the hydraulic gun in the direction of the ignition source with the possibility of regulating the direction of jet supply depending on the coordinates of the ignition area. Infrared channels of at least two two-channel television cameras are used as detection means, including an infrared channel and a video channel, and the coordinates of the ignition area are calculated as spatial coordinates depending on the coordinates of the location of the television cameras, and the angles of rotation of the hydraulic gun are calculated depending on its distance to the boundaries of the ignition area, taking into account the forces of gravity. Control of the ingress of a jet of the extinguishing agent to the ignition area is carried out by highlighting the contour of the jet using the video channel of the TV camera based on the signs of color and movement, comparing it with the ignition area and generating signals for correcting the angles of rotation of the hydraulic gun vertically and horizontally, depending on the direction and speed of the wind.

EFFECT: effectiveness of fire extinguishing in open areas in the presence of wind is increased by providing the possibility of continuous automatic control of the ingress of a jet of the extinguishing agent into the ignition area and compensating for the effect of the presence of wind on the actual trajectory of the jet by automatically correcting the direction of the jet of the extinguishing agent depending on the direction and speed of the wind.
