FIELD: fire-fighting facilities. SUBSTANCE: prior to supply of fire-extinguishing medium, the coordinates of flame boundaries are determined and amplitude of jet reciprocating motion commensurable with the distance between the flame boundaries is selected. The automatic fire-suppression system uses a carriage fire-hose barrel for expansion of fire-extinguishing medium made for movement in two mutually perpendicular directions, first and second drive motors for displacement of the carriage fire-hose barrel, means for supply of fire-extinguishing medium to the carriage fire-hose barrel, control unit with a storage and unit for determining the amplitude of reciprocating motion of the carriage fire-hose barrel in the function of of coordinates of the flame source, fire-hose barrel displacement transducers in the first and second directions, flame detector and target detector, having a working axis, rigidity installed on the carriage fire-hose barrel coaxially with it.
