FIELD: testing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of non-destructive testing, namely, measuring deviations from a given nominal value of the geometric profile of the pipeline wall surface. The multichannel measuring system of the multichannel geometry tool contains measuring mechanical levers, each of which is equipped with a sensor, a device for converting the signal of the angular position of the rotating axis of the mechanical lever into linear movement of the contact spot of the mechanical lever with the pipeline wall, depending on the set base value, while the parameters of the signal conversion characteristics are included in the non-volatile data storage device, at the same time, the parameters of the signal conversion characteristic are recorded via a bidirectional digital interface, while the on-board electronics of the multichannel geometry tool receives direct measurements of the linear deviation of each measuring lever from the sensors and performs preliminary data processing in real time, during which the geometric dimensions of individual design features and pipeline defects are determined.
EFFECT: increase in the quality and a reduction in the time of in-line diagnostics of the geometric state of the profile of the pipeline wall surface.
