FIELD: oil industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for obtaining magnetic hydrophobic sorbent based on glauconite for the collection of petroleum products from the water surface, characterized in that initial glauconite is sieved through a set of standardized normalized sieves, a fraction is selected with a particle size of 0.045-0.1 mm, and 5 wt.% of Fe2O3 is added and mixed, the resulting mixture is subjected to the thermal activation in an electric furnace “EKPS-10” with a microprocessor temperature controller for 2 hours at a temperature 400°C. Then, the mixture is cooled to a temperature of 100°C, and 5 wt.% of crystalline stearic acid is added and mixed in a mixer for 5 min. Crystalline stearic acid is melted and, when mixed, evenly covers the mixture of glauconite and Fe2O3 giving hydrophobic properties to the resulting powder-like sorbent.
EFFECT: obtaining magnetic hydrophobic sorbent.
