SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a safety device of lithium batteries, in particular to a thermal escape suppression element installed in lithium batteries, and its corresponding applications. The thermal escape suppression element includes a source of passivating mixture and a source of polar solution. The source of the passivating mixture is capable of releasing metal ions (A) selected from alkali metal ions other than lithium, alkaline earth metal ions or a combination thereof, as well as ions causing aluminum etching (B). The polar solution released by the polar solution source transfers metal ions (A) and ions causing aluminum etching (B) to the aluminum current collector, which causes its through etching, and metal ions (A) and aluminum ions formed during etching penetrate the electrochemical reaction system. Then the active substance of the positive electrode is transferred to a crystalline state with a lower electrical potential and lower energy, and the active substance of the negative electrode is transferred to an inorganic polymer state with a higher electrical potential and lower energy.

EFFECT: increase in the safety of lithium batteries.
