FIELD: engine technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to engine building. The method for gas exchange of a two-stroke internal combustion engine (ICE) includes the combination of working cylinders with compressor cylinders and pistons by gas ducts (5) into groups operating with a time offset relative to adjacent groups. The working mixture or air charge is first compressed in the compressor chamber (2), and then, with the purge window or valve of the next-phase working cylinder open, it is passed into the working chamber (1) of the adjacent connected working cylinder. When the piston moves to the lower dead center (LDC), the purge window or valve is first opened, then the exhaust window or valve of the working cylinder, while increasing the temperature of the working mixture or air charge by directly transferring part of the exhaust gas heat into it. As a working cylinder, a cylinder with two chambers is used: working (1) and compressor (2) chambers, the diameter of the latter is larger than the diameter of the working chamber (1). In the compressor chamber (2) of one cylinder in the area of the upper dead center, a purge window or a valve of an adjacent working cylinder connected to it in the group is blocked.

EFFECT: reduction in specific fuel consumption, as well as weight and size indicators.
