FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the process of preparing a catalyst for the production of diesel fuel with an ultra-low sulfur content (ULSD) from raw materials with a high sulfur content. The described catalytic composition contains a modified aluminum oxide carrier impregnated with a group VIB metal in the range of 15-25%, and a group VIIIB metal is in the range of 1-5% in the form of oxides. The catalyst obtained in accordance with the present invention gives highly dispersed active centers of MoS2 on a modified carrier. The catalyst produces an ultra-low sulfur diesel content (ULSD) fuel along with improved cetane, reduced density and reduced endpoint.
EFFECT: production of a substrate having optimal surface properties necessary for the structured dispersion of metal components on the substrate, as well as high active centers due to the modification of metal components by forming a selective metal complex in a controlled synthesis approach leading to the effective removal of refractory sulfur compounds to obtain a product containing <10 parts per million of sulfur.
