FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular to the formation of wear-resistant coatings on the surface of tools. It can be used for industrial tools, tools in contact with the ground, and tools for excavation and drilling, such as drill bits, drill columns and other downhole tools, as well as for tools in paper making, car, glass industry. A mixture for the formation of a wear-resistant layer contains 35-75 wt. % of wear-resistant particles of the first type and the second type and 25-65 wt. % of a binder for binding the first and the second wear-resistant particles, when the layer is formed. Distribution of sizes of wear-resistant particles has the first mode for the first type of particles and the second mode for the second type of particles. A number NS of the first wear-resistant particles correlated with the first mode is more than a number NL of the second wear-resistant particles correlated with the second mode, wherein the second mode is greater than the first mode. The wear-resistant layer is formed of the mixture by application to substrate and subsequent heating.
EFFECT: increase in hardness and strength of the wear-resistant later is provided.
