FIELD: material engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended to study the mechanical properties of materials exposed to intense dynamic loads and high-speed deformation. The device for testing the compression of a material sample with the Hopkinson-Kolsky bar contains input and output bars located on both sides of the sample. The device is additionally equipped with four pads installed on both sides of the sample in pairs. The touching surfaces of the pads in each pair are made according to a cylindrical generatrix. The pads are oriented so that the axes of the cylindrical generatrixes of the pairs of pads are directed perpendicular to each other, the diameters of the pads are equal to the diameter of the bars, and the radius of the cylindrical surfaces is equal to 1.0÷4.0 of the radius of the pads.
EFFECT: improved measurement accuracy and reduced error of test results.
