FIELD: engraving.
SUBSTANCE: method for applying a colour image by laser engraving relates to the production process of processing items made of metals and alloys by means of a laser beam and can be used for applying colour images on artistic or decorative articles, merchandise, and for putting colour marking on products in medicine and other industries. A colour image is applied on products by transferring a computer image to the software unit of a laser emitter and subsequently applying the image onto the surface of the product by means of a laser beam. The surface of the product underneath the image to be applied is pre-coated with titanium or titanium nitride.
EFFECT: application of colour images on medical or other products.
