FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, endocrinology and surgery, and can be used for treating benign solid nodules of the thyroid gland (thyroid). Treatment is conducted under sonographic navigation with Doppler imaging of the blood vessels of the thyroid nodule. A light guide is delivered to the blood vessel by puncture. The correctness of light guide insertion is determined by the disappearance of the Doppler signal in the vessel. Laser ablation of all blood vessels of the thyroid nodule is performed by a 3 to 6 W laser until the air bubbles visualised along the vessel disappear. Ablation of the tissue of the thyroid nodule is then performed by a 1.5 to 4.0 W laser.

EFFECT: significant reduction in the size of small and large benign solid thyroid nodules.
