SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video encoding means. Video data containing one or more sub-images are received. Number of sub-images and the delta value between the number of sub-images and the number of rectangular slices are signaled. Number of rectangular slices is obtained based on the number of sub-images and the delta value. When the current image is not the first image of a coded layer video sequence (CLVS), for each value i in range from 0 to the syntax element sps_num_subpics_minus1, if the value of the variable SubpicIdVal [ i ] of the current image is not equal to the value of SubpicIdVal [ i ] of the previous image in the decoding order in the same layer, syntax element subpic_treated_as_pic_flag[ i ] and syntax element loop_filter_across_subpic_enabled_flag[ i ] are equal to 1, wherein the syntax element sps_num_subpics_minus1 plus 1 indicates the number of sub-images in each image in the CLVS.
EFFECT: high efficiency of video encoding.
