SUBSTANCE: apparatus for practising cross-country running relates to physical education and sports, as well as to exercise machines intended for active training. Apparatus for practising cross-country running constitutes a treadmill placed on a frame, driven by means of rotating drives, provided with a tensioning roller equipped with a corresponding treadmill tensioning drive, supported along the entire working area by supporting and connecting rollers, the ends whereof are fastened with pairs of reciprocating mechanisms placed on both sides of the treadmill, also equipped with elements pressing the treadmill against the corresponding supporting and connecting rollers, wherein said mechanisms alternately move the supporting and connecting rollers with the treadmill in a vertical plane, thus forming groups of rollers, as a combination, forming an unevenness on the treadmill, which, due to the consecutive actuation (movement in a vertical plane) of the subsequent supporting and connecting rollers and the return of the ones used in the process of forming the terrain unevenness of a preset configuration to the starting position, moves along the treadmill towards the trainee, thereby allowing for a simulation of cross-country running through a complex terrain during practise.
