FIELD: foundry production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to foundry production. The method for coating ceramic casting molds prepared for casting titanium alloys includes coating by impregnation, drying the mold in air, and re-calcination. As an impregnating composition, aluminosol is used, containing from 2 to 20% colloidal particles ranging in size from 20 to 250 nm, contributing to the uniform distribution of alumosol inside the pores of the front layer of the ceramic mold and their maximum sealing. Impregnation of the mold is carried out by pouring aluminum sol into a ceramic shell at an excess air pressure of at least 1 atm.
EFFECT: obtaining a dense, uniformly distributed over the surface and in the volume of the front layer of the ceramic mold of a neutral coating, stable at the temperatures of casting titanium alloys, significantly reducing the formation of an alpha layer on titanium castings.
