SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular to plasma chemical-thermal treatment of titanium alloys, and can be used in engineering to improve wear resistance and corrosion resistance of machine parts. Method of combined plasma hardening of the surface of articles made of titanium alloys involves placing the sample in a vacuum chamber, creating a vacuum, feeding into the vacuum chamber of the reactive gas, feeding to the product a negative bias voltage with respect to the grounded working chamber, nitriding the product surface in the discharge plasma, opening into the vacuum chamber of argon, purification and activation of the surface in a discharge plasma and deposition of a TiN coating on the article at a negative bias voltage on a 300–600 V sample.

EFFECT: wear resistance of the treated surface is increased.
