FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the construction of heat-shielding structures, and in particular to a method for cooling the soil, and can be used to preserve the properties of soils, such as permafrost soils, by maintaining, lowering their temperature. The soil cooling method includes the steps at which a layer for descending air masses is provided in the soil, consisting of at least one hollow channel, and a layer for ascending air masses at least partially isolated from this layer, consisting of at least one hollow channel. Said layers are connected to each other by at least one chamber. Hollow channels are connected to the atmosphere in their above-ground parts and ensure the passage of air masses through them. The layer for ascending air masses is heated.
EFFECT: providing thermal protection of the soil from thawing effects of a natural or man-made nature, improving the cooling effect on the buried parts of the soil.
