FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of mechanical engineering, namely, to the field of development and production of bearings, in particular, high-speed thrust liquid friction bearings, and can be used in machines and mechanisms applied in power engineering, mechanical engineering, the petroleum industry, and other industries where hydrodynamic plain bearings are used. The method includes the creation of a gas-liquid dynamic lubrication layer by the movement of the pivot relative to the thrust bearing forming an extended two-phase layer consisting of a liquid and a gas layer, wherein the latter of is located on the surface of the fixed thrust bearing. The gas layer is created as a result of saturation of the cavitation flow with gas 0 hydrogen, as a result of the chemical reaction of the energy-accumulating material with the water used as a liquid lubrication medium. The energy-accumulating material acts as the basis or a component of the thrust bearing. The apparatus of a high-speed plain thrust bearing wherein the method can be implemented structurally consists of a pivot and a thrust bearing with hydrodynamic grooves made on the surface of the thrust bearing, wherein the thrust bearing is made of or comprises an energy-accumulating material.
EFFECT: reduced friction coefficient of the high-speed plain bearing, increase in the bearing capacity and operating stability of the bearing.
