FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of zircon containing isomorphous impurities; it can be used in the production of pigments, catalysts, luminescent materials, as well as for immobilization of radioactive waste. A mixture is prepared based on zirconium dioxide, amorphous silicon dioxide, and impurity metal oxide – cerium dioxide, and is subjected to mechanical treatment in a planetary mill, at energy supply intensity of at least 5 kJ/s per 1 kg of the mixture for 10-30 min. The resulting charge is calcined in an air medium at a temperature of 1200-1250°C for 2.5-3.0 h.
EFFECT: invention allows for the reduction in temperature and duration of charge calcination, while reducing a number of operations, as well as an increase in zircon yield up to 97%.
