FIELD: welding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for creating butt and butt-overlap connections of dissimilar materials by friction welding with mixing. The ends of the welded parts are processed by a milling machine, making a shelf on each part, with the possibility of creating a lock connection of the parts while placing the part made of a more low-melting metal, e.g., aluminium or aluminium alloy, at the top of the connection, and a part made of a more high-melting metal, e.g., copper or copper alloy, in the bottom. The thickness of the shelf is selected equal to half the thickness of the parts, and the width of the shelf is selected with account for the size of the tool used for subsequent friction welding with mixing. The width of the shelf is greater than the thickness of the rod of said tool.
EFFECT: increase in the strength and seal-tightness of connections of dissimilar materials.
