FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for measurement of rail wear. The method includes the registration of the first set of wheel signals (SW1) by means of wheel sensor (21) mounted on rail (20), determination of the first averaged wheel signal (AV1) for the first set of wheel signals (SW1), registration of at least one second set of wheel signals (SW2) by means of wheel sensor (21), when the second sensor of wheel signals (SW2) of wheels is registered after the registration of the first set of wheel signals (SW1) of wheels, determination of the second averaged wheel signal (AV2) for the second set of wheel signals (SW2), and determination of a difference signal (DIF) provided by means of the difference between the second averaged wheel signal (AV2) and the first averaged wheel signal (AV1), while the wheel signal is registered, when wheel (22) of a railway vehicle passes wheel sensor (21).
EFFECT: increase in the reliability of measurements of rail wear on a track is achieved.
