SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for assessing the quality of coal, including the use of a device containing a container containing coal and a stirrer made with the possibility of being placed in a container by insertion, and the specified device is a Gieseler plastometer. The degree of involvement (a - b)/a is represented by the height b of the semi-coke on the inner wall of the container, and the said semi-coke is formed in the said container in such a way that the agitator rotates while the coal contained in the container is heated, and the height a of the half-box on the agitator and is used as an indicator for evaluation. Coal for which the degree of involvement (a - b)/a is 0.20 or greater, as determined under conditions where the heating temperature of the coal exceeds or is equal to the re-solidification temperature of the coal, is assessed as poor as coal for the production of metallurgical coke. The invention also concerns a variant of a method for assessing the quality of coal, methods for preparing a coal mixture and a method for producing coke.

EFFECT: development of a technology for assessing the quality of coal as a starting material for metallurgical coke from the point of view of obtaining coke with high strength or from the point of view of not reducing the strength of coke.
