FIELD: producing coke.

SUBSTANCE: method for assessing the surface tension of coal and a method for producing coke. Method is carried out as follows: a multiple regression analysis of the surface tension, the value of the physical characteristic representing the class of coal, and the total content of inert components in the coal of each of the various grades of coal is performed to preliminarily determine the regression equation, which has as the target variable the surface tension of the coal, and as the regressor - the specified value of the physical characteristic and the specified total content of inert components. Then, the specified physical property value and the total inert content of the coal whose surface tension is to be estimated are measured, and the surface tension of the coal is calculated using the measured physical property value, the measured total inert content, and the indicated regression equation. In this case, the specified regression equation is expressed by the following formula: (surface tension) = a + b1 × (physical characteristic value) + b2 × (total content of inert components), where a, b1 and b2 are parameters of the regression equation.

EFFECT: development of an easy-to-implement method for assessing the surface tension of coal, the estimated value of surface tension can be used to study the composition of a mixture of coals, which makes it possible to obtain high quality coke.
