FIELD: vacuum electronics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of vacuum electronics, in particular to elements of the design of electric-to-optical converters used to record signals from fast processes. The cathode unit of the electric-to-optical converter contains a flat photocathode with a rectangular working field, a metal cathode attachment electrically connected to the photocathode, a metal accelerating electrode, which is remote from the photocathode and electrically decoupled from it. The metal cathode nozzle is a plate with one of its surfaces adjacent to the plane of the photocathode, the metal accelerating electrode is curved and has a parallelepiped-shaped cutout.
EFFECT: elimination of limitations for the boundaries of the dynamic range of the electric-to-optical converter due to the formation of a high-intensity flat ribbon electron beam in the cathode chamber of the electric-to-optical converter without image flip and without loss of photoelectrons on the elements of the cathode assembly, while maintaining the structure of the electronic image on the photocathode.
