FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of polymer materials. A polymer composition with increased melt strength is described, intended for the manufacture of products, using thermoforming and foaming methods. The polymer composition, according to the invention, contains at least one polypropylene polymer not containing long-chain branches, mixed with a melt strength modifier, which is a sorbitol derivative. At the same time, the melt strength modifier is present in the polymer composition in the amount sufficient for the creation of a penetrating network, when the polymer composition is heated to a molten state. In this case, the polymer composition contains at least 90% by weight of polypropylene polymer, and the melt strength modifier is present in the polymer composition in the amount from about 0.6% by weight to about 10% by weight.
EFFECT: melt strength modifier provides for increase melt strength of polypropylene polymer, sufficient for thermoforming and foaming processes in the absence of branching in polypropylene polymer.
