FIELD: foundry production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of foundry production. The electromagnetic device of the foundry machine for casting flat products is designed to hold liquid aluminum or its alloy with the first electrical conductivity on the side at one end of the passage of the foundry machine, limited by two casting rolls (22, 22'). The device contains a magnet frame (1) made of the first ferromagnetic material with a second electrical conductivity less than or equal to the first electrical conductivity, with a coil (8). The magnet frame (1) contains two wedge-shaped ends (4, 4'), the gap between the inner surfaces (5, 5') of which is 2-25 mm. At least one plate (9) of a second material with a third electrical conductivity greater than or equal to the first electrical conductivity is placed in the gap (6). The plate (9) deflects the magnetic flux generated at one wedge-shaped end onto the casting roll, into the passage between the rolls while holding the cast alloy in a narrow place of the passage between the rolls and the direction of the magnetic flux to the other wedge-shaped end.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the retention area of the liquid alloy on the side and the flexibility of the device, due to the possibility of casting strips of different widths.
