FIELD: aquaculture.
SUBSTANCE: method includes the stages: immersion of the camera (52) into a marine farm containing fish, and the camera has a field of view; obtaining images of fish using the camera (52) and identification of an external fish parasite on the fish by analyzing the images obtained. The target area in the field of view of the camera (52) is illuminated from above and below by light of different intensity and/or different spectral composition.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides automated counting of sea lice, as well as the ability to predict and prevent infestations of fish with parasites.
