FIELD: lighting.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes at least one light source to provide a light output with spectral power distribution for tracking sea lice on fish skin. Radiation in the visible wavelength range from 380 to 780 nm has at least two dominant wavelengths. First peak is in range of 490–540 nm and the second maximum is in range of 620–660 nm. Device comprises a sensor for measuring ambient lighting conditions and a processor for adapting the intensity and/or colour balance of the light output of the light source to the measured ambient lighting conditions. Method is implemented using the described device.

EFFECT: invention provides optimization of spectral distribution of power and intensity of light for detection of sea lice on fish skin.
