FIELD: fishery.
SUBSTANCE: shooting device is dived into a marine farm containing fish, fish images are captured using the shooting device, and an external fish parasite is identified on fish by the analysis of captured images. Differences are established between at least two different classes of an external fish parasite, which differ by difficulty of recognition of an external fish parasite. Quality metrics are calculated for each captured image, wherein quality metrics allow for identification of classes of an external fish parasite, for which image quality is sufficient to detect lice.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides automated counting of sea lice, as well as the possibility of prediction and prevention of infestation of fish with parasites.
