FIELD: fuel technology.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the production of high-octane additives to gasoline, namely to a method for preparing methyl-tert-butyl ether or ethyl tert-butyl ether. The method consists in the interaction of methanol or ethanol with butane-butylene fraction in the presence of a sulfocationite catalyst in H-form, at elevated temperature and pressure, followed by the release of the target product by rectification. In this case, the process is carried out with pretreatment of the catalyst with steam condensate at a temperature no higher than 40-60°C for 5-10 hours, followed by drying by treatment with butane-butylene fraction at a temperature of 75-77°C to a residual water content of no more than 5, wt. %.
EFFECT: proposed method makes it possible to increase the productivity of the process by increasing the activity and selectivity of the catalyst.
