SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to dentistry, and can be used in evaluating the degree of tooth wear. To do this, when visually examining the hard tissues of the teeth using dental instruments, they are evaluated according to the following criteria: the presence of tooth abrasion, the number of teeth with signs of abrasion, the number of surfaces involved in the process of abrasion, the size of the erased defect, the depth of penetration of the defect into hard tissues, the depth of enamel loss is taken into account. Evaluation criteria of the index are used: up to 6 points - there are no signs of tooth wear; from 6 to 12 points - mild degree of tooth wear; from 12 to 18 points - the average degree of tooth wear; from 18 to 24 points - severe degree of tooth wear; from 24 to 30 points - a very severe degree of tooth wear.

EFFECT: method provides an accurate evaluation of the degree of tooth abrasion while simplifying and accelerating the diagnosis of tooth abrasion without the use of additional research methods.
