FIELD: petroleum industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for implementing the insulating cover of an underground oil line and can be used in the construction and repair thereof to further search for an underground structure and locate leaks therein. Method for implementing the insulating cover of an underground oil line ensures the search and location of leaks during operation thereof, and consists in mounting a sealed shell. The sealed shell includes support elements arranged evenly along the perimeter of the oil line, brought in contact with the pipeline, forming an annular gap. The sealed shell also includes control tools, wherein part of said tools is located in a rigid recess with jumpers for an electric cable equipped with at least one power source and moisture-resistant light sources positioned between the jumpers, wherein the control tools are made in the form of light guides secured on the corresponding support elements. The lower end of a light guide is positioned over the corresponding light source, and the upper end of the light guide is passed through the shell onto the surface above the oil line, where said light guide end is connected with a surface beacon.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining leaks in an underground oil line; application of light sources and light guides with beacons provides a possibility of locating the underground oil line.
