FIELD: gemology.

SUBSTANCE: invention provides a system and a method for determining the color of a diamond. The computerized system for determining the diamond color group includes: an optical imaging device for obtaining one or more optical images of at least a section of diamond, one or more optical images are obtained at a given angle with respect to the central axis of the diamond, the central axis passes perpendicular to the site and through the top of the diamond pavilion and in the direction of the site, and in this case, one or more optical images are obtained in an environment having a given constant illumination level; a pre-trained neural network for obtaining one or more optical images of at least a section of the diamond from an optical imaging device and providing a regression value associated with the color group of said diamond based on one or more optical images of at least a section of said diamond, and an output module associated with a pre-trained neural network for providing diamond color groups by correlating the mentioned regression value with the color group.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the color of the diamond.
