FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: method consists in measuring the optical characteristics of tissue of the strawberry fruit, wherein the reflectivities are measured at a wavelength of 630 nm and 670 nm as said characteristics, and the degree of maturity is assessed by the value of the MD indicator calculated by the formula: MD=R670/R630, where R670 is the reflectivity at a wavelength of 670 nm, R630 is the reflectivity at a wavelength of 630 nm. The immature fruit stage is characterised by values of MD below 0.8; the picking maturity stage is characterised by values of MD from 0.8 to 1.0; the consumer maturity stage is characterised by values of MD from 1 to 1.4; the overripening stage is characterised by values of MD above than 1.4. Fruits are divided into maturity groups within each stage according to the following criterion: the higher the MD indicator, the riper the fruit.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy and effectiveness of estimating the degree of maturity of strawberry fruits by quantifying the reflectivities in certain areas of the visible spectrum and calculating ratios thereof.
