METHOD FOR DIAGNOSTICS OF PARATONZILLARY ABSCESS Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC A61B8/12

Abstract RU 2778606 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ultrasound diagnostics, and can be used to diagnose paratonsillar abscess. A transoral ultrasound examination of the paratonsillar region is performed, regardless of the severity of trismus of the lower jaw. In this case, a latex ball filled with water is used as an acoustic window. The ball is placed in the oral cavity in such a way that it is located on the back of the tongue, part of its surface is in contact with the mucosa of the paratonsillar tissue, and the opposite part goes beyond the vestibule of the mouth outwards and is in close contact with the working surface of the convex sensor located at an angle of up to twenty degrees to the transverse planes. If there is an anechoic formation in the paratonsillar region with heterogeneous contents, fuzzy contours, hypoechoic changes around the formation, a paratonsillar abscess is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method provides the possibility of performing an ultrasound examination in the diagnosis of paratonsillar abscess, regardless of the severity of lockjaw of the lower jaw, due to the use of a latex ball filled with water as an acoustic window.
